Overview

Mr Adshead has performed over 400 Robotic Partial Nephrectomies and is recognised as a leading expert in this operation.

He has taught and mentored many consultant surgeons around the country and helped to spread this technology across the NHS

He also offers and advises on ablation therapies in the form of CT guided cryotherapy with the help of his expert radiology department at the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Urological Cancer Centre based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage The results of his Robotic Partial Nephrectomy series have been published and presented at international meetings with very few complications and excellent recovery for patients.

Most stay one or two nights after the operation and recover in a few weeks.

Included is an information leaflet from the British Association of Urological surgeons to give you more information.

One of the beauties of robotics is it is a fantastic tool for teaching with the aid of a duel console (see picture) and the ability to operate on animal organs in the laboratory.

Therefore all of the perfecting and practicing for this procedure can be done in the training room to ensure excellent results for patients.

Mr Adshead uses Robotic Ultrasound to visualise the small masses before they are removed from the kidney.
